This service is free of cost for Integrated Emergency Management that includes help related to medical, crime, police and fire. The service reaches the place of the casualty within 14 minutes within the cities and 22 minutes in rural areas. They are equipped with advanced medical and rescue equipment and manned by experienced paramedics who provide emergency care before hospitalization.

They also follow up with the cases after 48 hours. They can handle all types of emergencies like injury, suicide, cardiac or respiratory problems, pregnancy and labor related, acute abdominal problem or snake bite etc. People all over Tamilnadu can avail this service by dialing the number 108 from all mobile and landline phones. The 24 hour multilingual call centre has the technical support from Sathyam Computer.
The centre functioning at Triplicane has around 100 trained phone jockeys to take the calls and offer the required help while calming down the caller at the same time. The Tamilnadu Government and the Emergency Management Research Institute (EMRI) have signed a MOU to offer these services as a public private partnership effort. The EMRI has tie ups with most Government and private hospitals and Public Health Centers and the patients will be transported free of cost to the nearest hospital.
